Empowering Youth Through Music and Community Engagement

EDH Young Ensemble Society (YES) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization aiming to empower youths via music. It is founded by three young musicians in high school. They believe music has the power to enlightening young people and lead them to an enriched life. They vow to use their own music skills to help more young people achieve such a life, be it via free concerts, coaching or charitable performance.

Yu-Ting Huang, known professionally as Cloris, is a certified music educator with a B.Ed. in Music Education and over 15 years of teaching experience in cello and piano.

Teaching Philosophy and Focus

Cloris has instructed students of various ages and skill levels. Her teaching emphasizes building strong personal connections and fostering an encouraging and positive environment to help students improve their instrumental skills.

Achievements and Expertise

Mentorship: 

She has guided students through successful auditions for orchestras like the Sacramento Youth Orchestra and the Singapore Youth Orchestra.

Examinations & Competitions: 

Cloris is experienced in preparing students for ABRSM practical examinations and Certificate of Merit and has successfully supported their participation in music competitions (piano, cello, string ensemble, and chorus) in the USA, Singapore, and Taiwan.

Beyond her role as an educator, Cloris is an accomplished performer and composer. Her original compositions and tailored syllabi demonstrate her active involvement in the musical domain, making her a dedicated figure in music education who is committed to her students’ holistic development.

Summer Xie
Co-Founder, President (Piano, Cello)

Summer Xie, co-founder and president of YES,  is a dedicated young musician from the Oak Ridge High School Class of 2029. Summer’s musical journey began at age eight, when she performed piano at Carnegie Hall as an honored award winner of the Royal Conservatory of Music (RCM). In 2025, she performed Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 21 with the orchestra at the Perugia International Festival in Italy. This year, she plays cello—her second instrument—in the Premier Orchestra with the Sacramento Youth Symphony. She has also performed in a string quartet and has been a dedicated member of her school band for three years, giving her a rich and diverse background in ensemble performance. Summer strives to channel that experience into empowering young musicians through YES.

Originally from New York’s Hudson Valley and now based in California, Summer also participates in her school’s marching and jazz bands, playing percussion. Beyond music, she enjoys songwriting, art, reading, swimming, and debate—all while leading YES with creativity and heart. And she never says no to a good cup of tea!

Benjamin Li
Co-Founder, Vice President (Piano, Flute)

Benjamin Li is the co-founder of YES!. He values the diverse perspectives that his background brings to his work. Born in Loveland, Colorado, 2011, he is the 2029 class of Vista Del Lago. He primarily plays two instruments, the piano since he was 5, and the flute since he was 9. He is fluent in English, Mandarin and can speak Spanish semi fluently. He enjoys competitive swimming and has qualified for SWAGR’s and Far Western meets. He also loves anything Pokémon related.

Nicole Zhu
Co-Founder, Vice President (Piano)

Nicole Zhu is the co founder of YES. Raised in Irvine, she’s lived in southern California until middle school and has spent a year studying abroad in China. Currently, she’s apart of the class of 2028 in Vista Del Lago. Since the age of 5, Nicole has enjoyed playing the piano, winning awards such as first place in her division at the MTA Theme Festival in Orange County. In her free time, Nicole likes to play the guitar and volunteer for the community such as her participation in Folsom Teen Council. She enjoys working with others and being in a team, always ready to meet new people!

Esther chen
Cello, Piano

Esther Chen, a member of the Class of 2029 at Oak Ridge High School, began her piano studies at the age of five and commenced cello studies at the age of eight. In third grade, she was selected to join the Kang Chiao Symphony Orchestra at Kang Chiao International School in New Taipei City, where she developed her musicality, ensemble collaboration, and performance experience.

Esther has been awarded the Intermediate to Advanced Level Certificate by the American College of Musicians National Piano-Playing Auditions, a distinction that reflects her commitment to technical excellence and artistic growth. She continues to pursue her musical studies with dedication and passion, striving to deepen her understanding and expression through both piano and cello performance.

Martin Xie
Piano, Trombone

In Grade 7, he was born in New York and now calls California home, embracing the vibrant and diverse environment around him. A passionate soccer player, he approaches the sport with determination, teamwork, and enthusiasm, always striving to grow both as an athlete and a leader on the field. He is also a devoted musician who finds joy in expressing himself through the piano and trombone. Whether he is mastering a new piece or performing for others, he brings the same focus, discipline, and energy to his music as he does to soccer. Balancing athletics and the arts, he continues to develop a well-rounded identity rooted in dedication, creativity, and a genuine love for learning.

Daisi Zhang
Piano, Trumpet

Daisi is 12 years old and currently in seventh grade. She has been studying piano since the age of five, developing strong musical skills and a deep appreciation for classical music. In addition to piano, she has played the trumpet for three years, which has broadened her musical experience and strengthened her performance abilities. Outside of music, Daisi enjoys staying active through gymnastics and loves expressing her creativity by doing various crafts. Among the many composers she listens to, she is especially fond of Beethoven and Debussy, whose music inspires her and motivates her continued growth as a young musician.

Eva Chen
Piano, Violin

Eva Chen began her piano studies at a young age and later discovered her passion for the violin. In fourth grade, she joined the Kang Chiao Symphony Orchestra B Team at Kang Chiao International School in New Taipei City, where she developed her ensemble and performance skills. n 2023, she earned a certificate from the American College of Musicians National Piano-Playing Auditions, recognizing her dedication and musical growth.

Eva is currently a sixth grader at Rolling Hills Middle School, Class of 2028, and she also enjoys expressing her creativity through art and drawing.

Vincent Woo
Clarinet

Vincent Woo is a freshman at Folsom High School. He discovered his passion for the clarinet through his middle school band and has been captivated by the instrument ever since. While known for his easygoing character, Vincent approaches challenges with focus and determination—qualities demonstrated by his success in Taekwondo competitions, where he has earned multiple medals. He is currently pursuing his 4th-degree black belt certification. Vincent enjoys playing soccer, badminton, and tennis. Beyond music and athletics, he appreciates nature and often finds joy in gardening, especially cultivating tomato plants.

Ian Woo
Piano, Flute

Ian Woo is a sixth-grade student at Folsom Sutter Middle School. His journey in music began in 2022 with piano, and in 2023, he expanded his interests to include the flute.   Ian also has been dedicating his time to Taekwondo since the age of five. He currently holds a 2nd-degree black belt. Outside of his academic and artistic pursuits, Ian enjoys outdoor activities such as soccer and biking. He finds balance in his routine by relaxing with video games and spending time with friends.

Olivia You
Piano

Olivia is a Grade 6 student from New Mexico who loves tennis and piano in equal measure. She has earned her ABRSM Music Performance Grade 1 certificate and has performed live several times. Whether she’s on the tennis court or at the piano, she always brings her bright energy and determination.
